• It was prom night. Limos were arriving at the school and out came the dates. Alex and Sammy didn't have any dates. They refused them all. John's date is a girl named Rose. Rose is pretty, smart and nice and John had a crush on her since they were in kindergarten. When he asked her, Rose accepted without a second thought.
Alex and Sammy watched enviously as the others danced. Two more hours until midnight. Then they'll go home happily. But what are they going to do for the next one hundred twenty minutes? Sighing, they turned to each other.
"Didn't Angel ask you?" Sammy asked, trying to make small talk.
"Yeah," Alex muttered. "She's not my type, really."
"Why not?" asked. "Hello? She's tall, pretty, intelligent, popular..."
"Well you're right Sammy about all those stuff," Alex said. "But you never said she was nice." His mind was suddenly filled with the bad experiences he had with Angel...The spaghetti falling into her designer shirt...her vicious glare...her scream of fury...That was terrifying! Alex cringed.
"That's funny!" Sammy chucked. "A boy is afraid of a girl! Chicken!"
"I am not a chicken!" Alex hissed. "Weren't you asked by Trevor?"
"Yes, he did ask me," Sammy said calmly. "He's not my type too."
    "Why not?"
    "Because i like someone else."
    "Who's that?"
    "Why should i tell you?"
    "Because i'm your best friend."
"I tell it to my best friend that's a girl, Stephanie. Not you. You're a boy. You wouldn't understand."
    "Yes, i will."
    "Oh, shut up."
"I won't. Not unless you tell me who it is."
"Do you want me to punch you?" Sammy threatened. For a girl, she was pretty strong. She's great at tae kwon do (not yet a black belt but soon she'll be) and is a great gymnast too. And she's pretty and nice and tall and smart and cute and...
"We really shouldn't have used a male narrator," Alex said thoughtfully.
Sammy said nothing. "Do you want me to punch you?" she repeated fiercely, her fist an inch away from breaking his nose.
    "No," Alex said weakly.
    "Good," Sammy grinned.
"Hey, guys!" John called. "Rose's father got her early so i can stay with you guys!"
"Great, what can we do?" Sammy said, beaming at him. Alex then noticed that Sammy was a lot happier when John's around. Could he be...?
Alex suddenly hated John, though he doesn't know it.
"Let's go outside," John suggested. "It's really nice, the moonlight. It's a great view. Rose and i watched it."
"Did you kiss?" Sammy asked, expressionless.
    "Yup," John said proudly.
    "Oh," Sammy said.
The three of them continued to look at the moonlight for a long time. It's probably twelve. The people leaving proved that theory.
"Well i guess i better get home. Ugh, this must be the worst prom ever," Sammy groaned.
"You're just sad cause you didn't have a date. Even though loads of guys asked you," John said in a singsong voice.
"Shut up," Sammy commanded. John followed at once.
"Come on," she said. "We better go."
The three of them walked slowly to their home, making small talk and laughing at the jokes John comes up. It's fun when the three of them are together.
"Hi, there," a soft voice said. The three of them jumped from surprise. Sammy looked around but she saw no one.
"We probably just imagined it," she said, looking shaken.
"No, we didn't," Alex said. "I heard it. It's true."
"You're right," the voice said again. A girl stepped up. She was wearing an army suit and a helmet covered her face. But her voice gave her away.
"Hi," she said. "I'm Sue Sulinnman. I work for the ATH. Aids for The Helpless. I was ordered by my boss to abduct you all. Don't be frightened. I won't hurt you."
The three of them just gaped at her until John went into a peal of laughter.
"Hilarious! Hilarious! Now, quit the joke. We know you're a fake."
"I am not a fake," Sue said, she was probably smiling. "I am Sue Sulinnman. I work for the ATH. I was ordered by my boss to abduct you all. Now come quietly or I'll have to take you by force."
"Who the hell said we'll come with you?" Sammy shouted. "Run for it, guys!" The other two obeyed obediently.
"You can't escape me," Sue said loudly. But she stayed in her spot, her hands on her hips.
"Ha," Alex said. "We outran her."
"No, you didn't," Sue said. She was suddenly in front of her, and four other strong-looking men surrounded them. "Now, come quietly. If you don't want to have every single part of your body broken."
Alex, Sammy and John gulped. Hands were suddenly binding their hands and feet, and carrying them to an unknown van. Sammy was crying out for help but no one heard her. No one was there to save the children.
Darkness came over them and they fell asleep.
