• That one night of every year, Halloween they call it. That one night is the only night of the year that those pestering humans mimic our evil ways of life. They copy the ways of frightening creatures such as ghouls, ghosts, vampires, or more peaceful creatures like fairies, and princesses, and extraterrestrials.
It is only on this one night that human children from all over the United States “pretend” to be dead people, etc. Humans dress-up like us because they are in awe of us, or because they fear us.
It all started on one dark, spooky Halloween when Voldemortessa and I were scaring some of the little fairies. All of a sudden, Bob jumped out at us with his knife. I was so scared that I screamed. Bob just laughed and said,
“Beth, you get scared too easily.”
“Thanks, that helps a lot.” I said with a hint of sarcasm in my voice.
“I’m so bored.” Voldemortessa said before getting on her mo-ped. We all agreed that we were bored, and we drove to Voldemortessa’s house. We started scaring all of the humans when they came to the door begging for candy. Then we soon tired of that.
After that, we went to Blurg’s swamp. Voldemortessa’s father was a great friend of Blurg’s, so we got to go to the swamp for free! It was really dark in the swamp, and we love playing in dark places. Bob snuck up behind Voldemortessa and tried to stab her. She scowled and said,
“You fool! Have you forgotten that we are vampires, and our hearts are impenetrable? Are you as immature as those human children who pretend to be like us on this accursed night?”
I giggled because Voldemortessa had never sounded more like my undead mother than now.
At midnight, Voldemortessa, her family, Bob, and I started on our nightly hunt for our favorite treat, human blood. Human blood is a treat because it tastes just right, and the nice sanguine color is just perfect.
So, anyway we were all in groups of three. I was in the group with Bob and Voldemortessa. Some of the humans were unfortunate enough to meet the tips of our teeth. Many of the human children screamed. We would just laugh as these very unfortunate children met their doom.
At this one house, Bob felt like he was being watched as he drank the blood of yet another human child. He asked,
“Voldemortessa, Beth, do you feel like you are being watched?”
“No, we don’t. Why do you ask?” they reply.
He says, “I asked ‘because I sense that there is someone or something watching us.”
Beth jeered, “You watch too many horror movies.”

It all started one dark, moonless, October night. I was walking towards Voldemortessa’s massively colossal mansion. She tells me that this “house” has been in her family for at least 200 years. How cool is that?
When I asked her why her “house” is so big, she just sat back and said,
“Well, my family was of a considerable quantity; we all lived in the same house.”
“Wow. How many people did you have living here at a time?”
    “About five-hundred, why?”
“I was just a little bit curious.”
That night, immediately after giving me that speech, she went into a very descriptive tangent on her family’s history. I found out that they are from Romania which is in Eastern Europe. I also discovered that the King in Romania had planned to have them hung for supposedly practicing witchcraft. Voldemortessa’s ancestors were of course innocent of all charges. That was proven when the King had their house searched for books on the art.
That night both Voldemortessa and I went to see the midnight showing of this movie called “Death at Your Doorstep”. This was rumored to be the best horror movie in the century. It was about some zombies and how they ruthlessly killed random people for the fun of it, and for their blood. The townspeople thought they were vampires, but they were really just bloodthirsty zombies who wanted to kill everybody in the small town.
It was so bad that, three-fourths of the way through the movie, when they really started saying bad things about the “vampires” Voldemortessa left. I, being a good friend and wanting to know what made her leave, followed presently
I looked everywhere for my lost friend, then finding her in an alley, I tried to ask what had happened when I realized that she was crying.
“What’s wrong Voldemortessa? Are you okay?”
“Beth, I’m sorry you had to find out this way, but I’m a vampire. We’re not all like those maniacs in the movie; actually we would be punished if we acted anything like them. Beth, there are more of us than you think; we are all over the world. Actually, you think we don’t exist at all. The funny thing is that we thought the entire human race was dead. That is until we came out of our other mansion for the first time in 1,000 years. We were so amazed with the world (i.e. some of our elderly members were still staring at the contemporary machinery days later.”
“Seriously, are you okay? You just confessed to vampirism, and you aren’t suspecting me of telling anyone.wow! My best friend turns out to be a vampire, a daughter of the night that I have been obsessed with for over a five years now. The funny thing about it is that I didn’t think it was strange that you never came out during the day. There is the fact that I never see you at school. If it had been anybody else, the first word out of my mouth would be vampire; I wouldn’t care how crazy I looked, I’d go chasing after that vampire. Voldemortessa, you don’t know how much this information astounds me. This explains so much!”
“You’re welcome I guess,” she said sounding unsure of herself.
“Hey, it’s almost 3:00 A.M. shouldn’t you be getting home, considering you’re a vampire and all?”
“Yeah, I probably should. You’re driving yourself home right?”
    “Yeah.”
That morning, I got home thinking about how much fun I’d had that night. Suddenly, my light was being blocked by a lofty, menacing figure; he bared his long, sharp fangs at me. It took me a second to recover from my earlier anxiety.
