• Wayland Rator was volunteering in a Chicago hospital, I was said to be dead, but Wayland heard my faint heart beat, he somehow knew I didn't want to die, so he changed me. I clamped my mouth shut, my voice was higher than it used to be, I saw myself in a mirror, I had pale skin, I didn’t look like I used too, I had fire red eyes instead of my green eyes, I did not look at all like I did before. He said 'I changed you because, I felt your pain, I saw that you didn't want to die, so that’s why.' I just stared at him, I felt thankful that he did, I whispered 'I tried to kill myself to be away from this life.' he had risen up from the chair and sat on the bed, I didn't move, I was staring at my hands, I felt his arm come around my back and lay on my shoulder, he said 'Now you do know, you can stay and travel with me or go your own way, I just thought I'd give you a second chance. You seem to be a smart girl.' He waited for my answer, 'may I stay with you?' He smiled and said I could.
