"Momma, I'm gone! Chels is in the drive way!" I called out as I ran for the door.
"Okay, Haley. Please be careful! Text me when you're there!" my mom called back.
Chelsea sat in her green Honda in my driveway with music blaring. Her blonde hair with copper streaks was pulled into two pigtails.
"God Dang, Haley! Try not to be so cute!" Chels said as soon as I got in the front seat.
"Uh, I think you're looking pretty hot." I responded.
She turned to give me a glare then roared her car down my driveway.
"I don't see how any one could hate Atlanta." Chelsea mumbled.
"Yeah, I know." I agreed as I looked out the window. We were heading down Ponce towards the Masquerade outside of Atlanta, Georgia. The sky was overcast and drizzled occasionally.
"Gah, the rain in going to ruin my hair." I shrieked.
"Least yours is naturally straight. I mean look at mine! What is this?!" she yelled once she parked and held a strand of hair. "Look! Ringlets! I look awful!."
"You do not!"
"Oh shut up and let me have my moment!"
I rolled my eyes and got out of the car. I counted the minutes as I waited for my dramatic best friend. She finally stumbled out of the car, and we went to get in line with everyone else.
"Haley!" Karlye called as she waved to us to come up in the front with her and Emily.
The doors didn't open till 6 PM; right now it was 5:30ish PM.
"Hey Haley!" Ryan called as he came and met us in line. I'm sure he felt out of place seeing that he was the only guy in our little group. Finally, the doors opened.
Chels and I ran over to the merch tables while Karlye and Emily went to stand in a good spot, and Ryan did his own thing.
"Baby, do you want anything?" I called to Ryan.
"No, thanks, babe. I'm good. I'll met you by the pole, okay?" he responded.
"Okay,"
"Did you just offer to get him something?" Chels whispered to me.
"Uh, yeah..." I choked.
"Shouldn't he be getting you something?!"
I shrugged my shoulders. How was I supposed to know?
I stood with Ryan in the pit for the first band, Emarosa. The floor was vibrating from the movement and voices and feet. But soon it all came to a sudden halt once it was over.
"Ryan, I'm going to go stand with Emily and Kar okay? My stomach is bothering me (which it was)." I yelled above the chaotic voices of everyone talking at once.
"Okay!" he yelled back.
I met some of the band members and stood near an open door for fresh hair. The smell of smoke and other substances filled the air. I was starting to feel better...until Ryan came and dragged me into the sea of people. I didn't want to be there. I wanted to be home!
"I know you don't want to be right here...we can move." Ryan whimpered.
"No, no, this is fine." I lied. I stayed out in the sea of people with Ryan until The Devil Wears Prada came one. I could feel the room spinning, and I felt light-headed. "Ryan, please...I-I don't feel good." I choked out with tears.
Without a response, Ryan picked me up and took me to Emily. He rubbed my shoulders and kiss my neck.
"I'll be back, baby," he whispered.
I didn't argue. I didn't want him to leave my side...but I had my friends...what was the worst that could happen?
