Story Two: Part Three
The truth...
As we ran through the forest, it continued to grow thinner and thinner. The ground no longer was covered in leaves but with white sand like on a beach. The distant roar of waves grew as we ran along the flat ground.
The stranger was running a head of me his pistol raised. There seemed to be no enemies around but I could hear barking in the distance.
"Hurry up!" The stranger yelled with no hint of tire in his voice.
I tried to quicken my pace but my legs were burning and my hand shaking. I still couldn't believe what was happening and what had happened in the last few days.
We ran on until I could hear a loud beating noise as if a rope was being whipped by my ear. Then as the sound grew louder I could just make out a shape on a sandy beach just beyond the trees in front of us.
It was a helicopter. The engines were on and read to go.
"Get in!" The man said motioning toward the helicopter. He turned around and raised his pistol looking intensely at the forest we had just left.
The doors of the helicopter flung open as another masked man held his hand out beckoning for me to get in.
I went and got in the helicopter grabbing the mans hand as he pulled me in. As soon as my full body was in there was a ping, ping noise.
The doors shut as more of the sounds followed. Then I heard the pop of the strangers weapon being fired.
"Go, go, go!!" The other stranger yelled. The thumping sound of the helicopters blades began to spin faster. The helicopter rose into the air then took off flying at a high speed.
"Head to the HQ!" The stranger told the pilot. "We need to get this kid out a here!!"
"Yes, sir!" The pilot replied. As he hit a series of buttons on an overhead screen.
What just happened? I thought. What is going on?!
"Hey! What's going on?!" I yelled. There was no reply. My voice was not heard over the noise of the helicopter. "HEY!!!"
"Huh...?" The stranger said.
"What's going on!?!?" I yelled, my voice barely reaching over the noise of the helicopter.
"What?!" The stranger replied.
"WHATS GOING ON!!!" I yelled at the top of my lungs.
"I can't tell you that now! Wait till we reach the HQ!"
With that I sat in silence the rest of the trip, then we reached our destination. The helicopters doors opened again and we stepped out onto another beach much like the last one. The stranger grabbed me by the arm and pulled me across the beach into the forest.
He lead deep into the forest where we reached a house. It was wooden two story house that was dilapidated by age. There was one window on the first floor that was broken.
The stranger took me in the house through the door (or what looked like a door) and into an empty room with a single rug in the middle of the floor. The stranger let fo of my arm and walked over to the rug. He taped on the rug which made a hollow sound. Then he stood and moved back a few paces. Then the rug slowly lifted as a trap door opened under the rug.
A scarred face came up looking into the room. He looked straight at me and said, "We've been waiting what took you so long?"
"We were held up. I'll explain later." The stranger said.
"Whatever... Come on." He opened the trap door fully and then crawled out. He was a tall muscular man with broad shoulders. He was wearing the same uniform as the other two strangers but his had a series of medals on his chest.
"Go on." The man said, "Go down."
The first man walked over to me and led me to the trap door. I slowly got on my knees and then unsure of what was going on, lowered myself down into the hole...
My feet hit rough ground and a cold gush of wind hit my face. I stood letting my eyes adjust to the darkness then saw that I was on a cave. It was a circular corridor going straight into darkness. I moved forward a step then stopped feeling a hand on my shoulder. I jumped and turned around to see the stranger there.
"Go." He said. I slowly walked forward, dragging my feet so I didn’t step on anything. We walked for another minuet or so and then I saw light ahead. I soon realized that there were lights on the wall. They were dim but they allowed me to see where I was going. Up ahead I saw that the corridor split into three passage ways. I stopped in front of them.
“Go on to the right.” The stranger with medals said. I did as I was told and walked toward the passage to my right. This passage was curved leading us in almost a complete circle when it finally straightened out.
We didn’t walked very far when I finally realized where this was going. In front of us there was a circular chamber filled with lights and… people. People were every where and they were all in the same masked uniforms as the other two strangers. We walked into the large chamber and then saw what filled all the space. It had weapons of every type. There were vehicles as well, with large weapons mounted on top of them. There was enough weapons for a small war.
We walked farther into the chamber and moved toward another man but with no mask.
“What took you so long?” The man said.
“Long story, you’ll hear it in briefing.” The masked stranger said. We stood in silence for a while the three men shared a few glances when I finally got the courage to say something.
“Wait, what’s going on? Why am I here?” I said quietly.
“Take him to his chamber.” The man said. “And tell Sagi to meet him there.” With that the two men grabbed my arms and led me to another chamber. It was directly off the main chamber but had a door blocking it off.
The masked man opened the door and went in the chamber. As I walked in I saw that there was a man waiting there.
“Sagi, debrief him.” Then the other men pushed me in and left.
“Well, took them long enough to find you. We need to start the debrief.”
“Wait, I want some answers first!” I yelled with frustration.
“Fine… what do you want to know?” He said annoyed.
“First where am I?” I said a little calmer.
“On an island off the coast of South Africa.”
“What?!” I said surprised. “Then why am I here?”
“Your pretty popular around here. You and your friends. You have quite a few people after you.”
“Why?”
“You don’t know already? Wow, I can’t believe you haven’t figured it out by now. Well, to put it plainly, you can see things other can’t.”
“You mean the dreams?”
“There not dreams, there more like visions. It’s a special power. You can see what everyone is doing whenever you sleep. That’s the reason that their after you.”
“Who are they?”
“Demons…”
