• tab Though they had pale faces, only three of them had black eyes and fangs. The fourth one was a young girl; she didn’t look like the others. Unlike the others, her face was soft and almost kind. Her eyes shone in the dark. They were the coldest blue eyes anyone had ever seen. They stared into Sonye’s and it looked as though she were staring in the mirror. “What’re you doing here?” Sonye asked. It was more of a statement than a question, but, as she said this, they quickly started the fight. “So that’s how you want it!” she said. The first three came at her and the fourth stayed behind. She didn’t look as enthusiastic and eager to fight like the others. The three that came after her tried, at first, by coming on her three sides, but what they didn’t know is that that was her specialty. All throughout her training she’d been taught mostly on side and back attacks, frontal attacks were not as likely, and it gave her the ability to prevent many ambushes.

tab She spun, with her sword at hand, and knocked all three foes on the ground slicing each one of their legs open, it was a low sweep. As soon as she got a moment to see the damage she had dealt, she watched as their wounds healed. She could tell by their faces it was painful, after all they could feel their skin grafting together. And, as she was getting ready for another attack, the young girl jumped in front. “Hitekay no! Bayvaya hiba kie no!” the young girl said. She was using some bizarre language, one Sonye had never heard before, and she’d heard just about every language. The little girl said the same thing a couple more times and the others reluctantly left.

tab Sonye, shocked and confused at what took place, came back to reality, realizing she only had one more thing to do then her mission was over, report to Jamnaya. Sonye stealthily worked her way to the church, going at a slow place. The whole way she thought could she be? . . . No, impossible, but those eyes and that face. No, I’m just going crazy. Sonye said to herself over and over again.

tab “You’re here, what took so long?” Jamnaya asked as Sonye opened the door. His usual monotone sounded a bit sincere. “Sorry J.” Sonye said, sounding a bit sad and confused, and added “got a bit . . . Held up.” She walked to the first pew she saw and laid on her back, staring at the stars. Jamnaya knew the minute she walked through the door something was wrong and the fact that she called him J was a dead giveaway. She only called him that when she was upset, stressed, scared, or being casual, and it didn‘t seem to be the last option. Pretty much when something was a bit off and she wasn’t happy. Sonye heard Jamnaya’s footsteps slowly coming toward her. He seemed to be barely moving, yet his steps echoed throughout the cathedral.

tab Finally he worked his way to the pew where she was and stood at the end. “So you fought ’em too huh? Shouldn’t have been to hard for you. That can't be what’s eating you alive. So what’s your report?” he seemed, to Sonye, that he was inquiring as to what’s wrong, which was odd for Jamnaya. He wasn’t a very personal person. “Well every guard squad on duty has already been terminated. I alerted the SAS of the recent events and they should take care of the things the guard squad would’ve.” Sonye said, seemingly using Jamnaya’s monotone voice.

tab “And the attack, report about that” “I was on my way back when I stopped in an alley. I took a break and listened carefully, for I was watched for some time before this. I knew they were watching me and I hate being watched.” she said and took a deep breath. “There were 4 of them. Two men a woman and . . .” “and?” “And a girl. They all had pale faces and fangs but the girl looked so . . . Different. She had cold, blue eyes and a soft weak face, kind looking. Well…the other 3 came at me and I cut down their legs. I faced them and I saw their wounds heal before my eyes, it looked painful. They were about to get up and come at me again, when the girl said something to make them leave” Sonye said quickly.

tab “what was it?” Jamnaya asked and he actually sounded curious, again not like him. “I don’t know. I’ve never heard the language before” Sonye said but with that a tear slid down her cheek, and soon after it was followed by another. Jamnaya glanced down and saw Sonye’s tears for the first time. He walked next to her and knelt down. ”Jamnaya?” she requested softly. “Yea?” “do you believe in fate?” “I don’t really know”
