All Hallow's Eve Chapter 1
-
"NOOOO!" Luna screeched, sitting bolt upright in bed, clutching the sheets in pure terror. She looked outside, wanting to return to reality, and in reality lied safety. The sun was just beginning to tint the sky over the mountains. She swallowed, wanting nothing more than to have a normal life. 'I might as well get up. I won't sleep again anyways,' she thought. Luna stood up and went over to her full-length mirror. Staring back at her was a girl about fourteen years old with very long black hair and blue eyes, covered in blood. Luna gasped and looked at her hands. They were stained blood-red. Luna glared at her reflection.
"WHAT DID YOU DO NOW?!" Her reflection smiled and put a blood-stained finger to her lips.
"Shhh. It's a secret."
Luna shook with fear. She grabbed her baseball bat that stood in the corner and faced her reflection.
"WHAT DID YOU DO?!" Her reflection smiled again and started laughing. It started softly, then grew into a murderer's laugh. Luna screamed and swung the bat into the mirror.
"STOP IT, STOP IT, STOP IT!" Luna screeched as the sound of breaking glass filled the early morning air. She stopped to catch her breath, staring at the shards of glass on her floor. A banging sound made her scream. The banging continued until Luna realized that someone was knocking on her door. She stood up and went over to her door. She unlocked it and something burst through the door and clutched Luna in a hug.
"Luna, what happened? You woke me up with your screaming. Were you attacked? Are you alright? You're covered in blood! I'm going to call the hospital and-"
"MOM!" Luna shook her mother a little. "I'm fine. I just woke up. I wasn't screaming. At least not consciously. And sometimes I bleed in my sleep. It's okay."
'Liar.' A voice from the bed whispered. Luna looked at her bed. Her reflection was sitting there, like she always did when there was no reflective surface around.
"Are you sure that you're okay, Luna? Do you want to go to school? I can call them and tell them you're sick or something..." Luna forced herself to smile.
"I'm fine, Mom. I just need to clean myself up. Why don't you wake up the boys? You know how long it takes to wake them up." Luna turned her mother around and gently pushed her towards the door.
"Well, if you're alright, then fine."
"I won't take too long. I'll be downstairs before 8:00." Luna shut the door and locked it. She listened to her mother's footsteps fade away, then turned to her reflection.
"Shut up." Luna said, walking past the reflection of her heart to her dresser. She was a murderer inside, and she knew it. She knew it, and could do nothing to stop it. She walked to the bathroom that was across the hall and turned on the water for her shower. Something scraped on the tile behind her. She whirled around. There was nothing there. That she could see. Luna rushed out the bathroom door just in time to get a bucket of cold water all over her.
"JACK!!!!!" she screeched, shivering. The grin on her 12-year-old little brother's face wasn't because he had pranked her. She hated that her pajamas were white.
"You really need to think of other ways to not get weeeEEETTT!" Jack said, his voice rising in pitch as Luna lunged at him. He couldn't get away fast enough, and fell to the floor, Luna on top of him.
"You little brat! I wish you'd just die!" Luna screamed, her hands clutched around his throat. A voice whispered in her mind.
'Glad to be of service.' Luna's heart beat faster as she felt her reflection take over.
'NO!' Luna screamed, even though no one could hear her. Jack gasped for breath underneath her still blood-stained hands as she tightened her grip.
"Nee-Nee..." Jack gasped. Luna gasped as her reflection retreated back into her mind. She stood up and let go of her brother. He rolled over and coughed. Realizing what she had almost done, Luna screamed. She ran into her room and picked up one of the glass shards from the mirror. She staggered back into the hall. Jack was still coughing.
"Jack." He looked at Luna, fear in his eyes. Luna put the glass shard against the wall. She smiled.
"I love you." she said, tears streaming down her face. As Jack watched in horror, she slammed her head onto the glass shard. Again and again and again, she slammed the shard into her head until she collapsed. She watched as Jack screamed and ran downstairs. She could not hear anything except the screaming in her mind as her reflection died slowly and painfully. She saw her parents come up the stairs and felt her father pick her up. She could feel the glass shard in her hand. She lifted her hand to her chest.
"I love you, Dad. I love you, Mom." Luna whispered. She smiled as she plunged the shard into her still-beating heart. The last thing she saw was her Father looking down at her, a look of horror just appearing on his face. Then her world disappeared.
