It was just like any other day. Except it wasn’t just like any other day, because it was better than that. It was my fifth birthday. I was happy, so happy. It was travel day! We were going on a plane to somewhere fun for my birthday, and my sister Makenzie was with me, and it was going to be so much fun and we were going to have so much fun! So I didn’t mind getting up early, or going to the big, crowded place full of flying things, because we were going somewhere fun! I asked mommy and daddy a bunch of times where we were going but they wouldn’t tell me, they said it was a surprise.
Then we got to the crowded place and me and Makenzie got lost and I didn’t know where mommy and daddy were, but it was all okay because they found us a few minutes later. Then we walked a bunch and sat in some chairs that weren’t really comfy. And there was a lady, a pretty lady who was calling out names. They called out daddy’s name and said the date, and the date was 9/11/01 and I thought that was funny because it sounded weird to me. And we got on the big flying machine and soon we were in the sky! It was really fun to fly. I asked mommy again where we were going, and she finally told me we were going to a big toy store in New York. Then I asked if we would see Woody and Buzz and Hamm and she said maybe with a big smile on her face.
The flying thing took forever to get close because I asked every five minutes if we were almost there. But then we were and something felt wrong. And then we were going fast, too fast, and the plane was flying straight in the tall buildings and I asked what was going on. Then a big shaky thing went through the flying thing and we were falling and the sky was grey and when the scary stuff finally stopped I called out to mommy and daddy and Makenzie, but they didn’t answer and they were being real still. I guess they went to the toy store without me and stayed to play with Woody and Buzz and Hamm for a while, because now it is 9/11/04 and I still haven’t seen them.

- Title: Flying

- Description: This is a story about a young girl. It's meant to sound like it comes from the mind of a five-year-old, because it does. It's a very short story, only 407 words long. Constructive criticism, please?
