Light cascades through the branches barren of emerald leaves.
He who would say it wasn’t beautiful misperceives.
As though it were water, the air had rhythmic ebbs.
The dry, brown grass waved in the shadow’s webs.
A scenic Texas day this seems to be,
Like any other, until the truth you see.
All around people embrace with hugs and kisses.
Laughter was the only sound While in the midst of reminisces.
But soon their hearts feel as barren as the branches,
as they begin to cross the endless fields of the ranches.
Although the sun continues shining with radiance,
all happiness transmutes into silence.
Warm the day has been but now the air cools,
and in everybody’s eyes tears begin to pool.
We all grieve with out the lead of her smile.
But to cry in the presence of others was never my style.
She passed away in a peaceful manner,
as mentioned in the obituary banner.
With ashes held in our gentle, open hands,
the winds sympathetically disperse them across the lands.
Her soul is now as free as a butterfly,
riding the winds throughout the entire sky.
“I love you grandma, I’ll see you before long”
I said while trying to be strong.
“I cry for you to this day”
Before I sleep is what I’ll always say.
In loving memory of grandma Waldron,
with your embrace, After death, to you I’ll run.
~David J. Turner Jr.
I will forever love you Grandma.
