I thought they would last forever
For eternity
That they would follow me:
To the ends of the world
To the place where
I could accomplish my dreams.
As soon as I grew up
I realized
That the distance between us
Increased as time passed…
We were drifting away.
Not so long after
I learned that my thoughts
Were nothing
But childish hopes
In which I had given my heart
To a transparent world
Created by my own lies.
Saying “Goodbye”
Never crossed my mind
I never thought
That they had the right
To fly into the sky
And be dissolved by time.
The truth is hard
But in reality
Halcyon days don’t last forever
They die as soon as they start
To feel attached.
Goodbye Halcyon days,
I know you won’t be coming back.
I’m getting old
And I, like you, will be dissolved
By the same time.
- Title: Goodbye Halcyon Days: Prose
- Artist: Harukko

Description:
It's a prose/free verse poem. I did it for my English Class as homework one year ago.
I have another poem with the same title, and the same theme, but this actually the first poem. The other version is just an interpretation of this one.
Anyways, like I said before, I love criticism, it helps me grow. Thanks for reading. =3 - Date: 03/18/2009
