An unsleeping city
Buses bustle by
Captivating carnival
Downtown’s silver sky
Evening stillness settles
Find the final train
Grumbling street under feet
Heading home again
In the city’s beating heart
Jump into the flow
Keep your thoughts far behind
Love to never go
Melancholy musical
Nighttime noise sounds
Outside, tunnel twinklelights
Passing by in bounds
Quick and quiet shadow
Railclatter rhyme
Subway’s subtle swaying
Trailing through time
Uniquely unusual
Very everyday
Wistfully wishing that
(XO)
Yes, I can stay
Zoom, pass, fly away,
City fades behind-
Though my body leaves it,
Always stays within my mind.

- Title: Alphabet of Leaving the City

- Description: A kind of random poem I wrote for my 10th grade Professional Writing class, based on how much I hate leaving my beloved New York City every time I visit (couldn't think of any good words with X, hence the XO :-D )
