The children are running
Giggling and pointing
Greeting everyone they pass
as they skip to and fro
The chalk on the sidewalk
is melting away
but the delinquents still play
in the rain, sun and snow
The boy still has cooties
they all stay away.
The poor boy is confused
but he makes a new friend
The mothers are scolding
Dinner is ready
The tears of children fall
As the day comes to an end
Most young children are loved
kissed, praised, and pampered
though some are left hurt
by who have no sense
The children are aging
Growing up much too fast
How could one be so hurtful
of everlasting innocence?

Description:
I wrote this in less than fifteen minutes but I think it is pretty good. I usually do not write poems, mostly fiction, but here goes. ^^ I wrote this when I was thinking about how innocent and pure little children are, balls of energy constantly bouncing around, always forgiving, just wanting to be with friends. And then I thought about the people who abuse the innocent children. Yeah... >w<
