It happened September 4, 2011,
Fire flaring 24/7,
Homes consumed,
All hope doomed,
Chaos unleashed in heaven.
Goal is to destroy,
Bastrop's nothing but a toy,
Fire burning for hours,
Leaving nothing but steep smoke towers.
Trees set ablaze,
Creating a bright orange haze,
Like a deadly glow,
Leaving us in a daze,
Wondering what's next to go.
Help from everywhere,
Glad to see so many care,
That Bastrop wouldn't dare,
To say it isn't fair.
Now after all in said and done,
We can finally see a new sun,
I can say it hasn't been fun,
No more help is needed,
All needs have been completed.

- Description: My home was burned down in the Bastrop Complex Fire that started on September 4, 2011. It is now September 25, 2011 and the fire is still burning. I wrote this poem as a way to deal with everything that has happened to my little town of Bastrop.

Powerful imagery. I love the circuitous yet unmistakable way you alluded to the 9/11 attacks. That right there is a mastery of SWAG, brostaff. I hope that fire goes out before the whole town is reduced to ashes... I rarely, rarely give 5/5, but I'm giving one now, based off the strength of that allusion. Just one botched chord here: I think you're a tad bit preoccupied making sure everything rhymes; ends up sing-song. Don't let that be a crutch for you.
