• Life has cheated me
    For I once thought of cheating it,
    Quite the punishment for my mere plot,
    A steep step on which I must sit

    That which I’ve only dreamed of
    Is now held high out of reach,
    I lose my one beloved
    As a lesson Life chooses to teach

    “Two eyes for one,” as Life says.
    A heavy price, I must say.
    Life thinks I’ve been outsmarted
    But I never intended to pay

    No, I think I’ll fight this,
    As a loser I am quite sore.
    I’ll break out the pens and paper
    And maybe cheat life once more
