Love.
This sometimes unspoken feeling that we can share with many people.
How it makes its way through the falling rocks of misfortune and disbelief is still undefined
It can’t be mined and polished in a factory
It can’t be used to make seas of green
Can never be captured, never be tainted and most definitely cannot be eliminated
It’s a singular, universal feeling that will forever remain in our hearts
The time of year when we can really show this feeling is Christmas.
The time of joy, the time of giving, the time of love
It’s the time when your relatives come over
Where your parents make you baby sit the young ones while they engage in “adult” conversation
Where the smell of cranberry sauce and baked turkey cause the room to fill with little thieves
Drooling on themselves and fight for the turkey leg as the uncle tries the chug a keg
Most definitely after, when we feel like tomatoes, we open the gifts from under the tree
sit together and enjoy each other’s company
This is the celebration of love.
Among its many mysteries, comes a singular question.
How can we show love? Sincere love.
Well, it may be delivered by the jolly old man in the red suit who carries his bag of joy and smiles to millions of children around the world.
Maybe it’s that “get well soon” card you gave your best friend who caught the flu from
Or it’s a simple act of kindness we share with people whom we have never seen, never spoken to
Whose stories are not known
These acts of kindness are acts of love
We spread love through these small acts without even knowing it
Maybe we open the door for someone, help them carry their books, buy them a coffee or simply say hello
Maybe we donate some money or food, clothing or household necessities
Or maybe we just take the time to listen to their story
These are still acts that can make some ones day just a little bit brighter
So let’s light the candles, put up the tree and make boxes of joy for people in need
Fill them with toys, treats and love in plenty
And make their Christmas a time to celebrate
Let’s share our vision of Christmas
Let’s share the love, share the kindness, share the joy
