This Old Phone

• Description: An assignment from school had us use or make up a phone number and write a poem using that number of syllables for each line. I used my grandfathers old house phone, wrote this a year after he passed away and the house was empty for the first time in 76 years.
  I ended up working and rhyming as a poem on its own too so here's both versions

Don’t waste your time on calling this old phone.
No one will answer, no one is home.
All the life is gone, and the phone rings unheard.
When you leave a message at the beep,
do not say a single word.
