Gold Mountain the place of casual drink and hardcore gambling, its one of the legends of Gaia and one of the greatest investments made by Johnny.K.Gambino, the owner and self proclaimed 'richest man in Gaia.' Being located on the Isle de Gambino, it attracts revenue from people whom visit and even from locals living on the island. On the island also was the Gambino mansion, the Gaian marketplace, the 'Gambino Outfitters' which was run by the young woman named Sasha and finally the 'Gambino Hat Rack' which was run by the young woman named Ruby. Being on Isle meant you always had a steady flow of customers and tourists.
Trading with other lands was also essential, ships would hurry from the port and sail the seven seas with their goods below deck, then returning with something greater then their original cargo. Which ever way you slice it was always a busy place to be, many grand happenings were set afoot here from parties of grandeur to political decisions that would effect all of Gaia in the long run Though, in truth Gambino hadn't swung open the doors to his mansion to party guest in over a year and if you did knock on his and didn't have important business.. they'd regret it in the long run. With no parties and neither of the Gambinos even seen on the Isle for awhile, whats one to do?
Head to Gold Mountain of course!
For many young men and women whom were employed there, it was paradise in a paradise. This was the case for a young man named, Dark, whom was a dealer and distributor of tokens in the game rooms. Being male, Dark had to abide by the policy to wear a red vest, though personally he fancied the blue, but, the blue vests were reserved for females workers. Aside from that though, he enjoyed his job, the shifts weren't long for him and the pay was sufficient, he'd even made a name for himself as the 'Ace of Spades' because many had found it happened to be his favorite card in the entire deck, that and it was the card to seemed to ensure his victory most of the time. When his shift was over or when he was bored, he'd always put on his red headphones and listen to some music.
Dark was like most young men his age, ambitious, able bodied and ready make his mark in the world. He stood at around five feet, eight inches, though personally he wouldn't be able to tell you. He had fair skin, soft blue eyes, rosy cheeks and bright brown hair. Though many consider his very psychical appearance 'down right adorable' he thought nothing of it in the least. He just considered himself normal in every sense of the word. Though, he always knew how to use charm, one of the abilities he claimed he 'didn't have'.
Days seemed to fly by there, time wasn't the enemy nor was it the friend, his eight hour shift would always seem 'non existent', leaving him and another dealer named, Jinx, to test their gambling 'skills.' They were rivals, always pushing the other to strive for a better score or a goal entirely... every time. This made them the closets of friends and their skill combined would makes other cringe.
Today however wasn't one of those days, Jinx was out sick, or whatever his supervisor had told him, he couldn't exactly remember. The point was though... he had to do overtime, something which he didn't mind, but he thought of other things he could be doing made him slightly annoyed. He gazed at the clock, “Thirty-minutes to go...” He muttered to himself, dealing out a card, it resulted in a agonizing groan, clearly a disappointed patron. Dark sighed as the rather large patron left his table, it left him with no one to play against, so now he truly was annoyed. As he watched the large man who appeared to be a fisherman grumble.
The young Dark decided to put on his headphones and wait out the last bit of his shift with some tunes.
Russel Ace was another dealer and friend of Dark's, he was dealing cards a few tables away, unlike Dark though, he was having trouble. Two patron's at the table cheered as Ace lost another hand. We're so close!” The pair of girls yelled out quite loudly,to almost no one in particular. Were they hankering for attention? Probably so.
“Damn it!” Ace swore quietly to himself, desperately trying to think of ways to turn this in his favor, finally, with some careful thought, coming up with a solution. “Wow!” Ace spoke to them with a forced smile. “I sure am unlucky tonight! You girls could win... How about you bet it all?”
The pair stopped to think, snickering coming from the two of them. They appeared to be identical twins, both of them sisters. They wore bright, matching purple outfits, had long silver hair and black eyes. “Sure!” They replied to Ace, pushing their winnings unto the table. It appeared to be one hundred thousand tokens worth. Ace smirked inwardly, then prayed that his cards wouldn't fail him. The Card bot threw out four cards, two to the sisters and two for Ace. The sisters a combined score of twenty, they laughed and cheered. “Let see em', Ace!” One shouted, slamming her hand unto the table which irked Ace tremendously.
“Have some decency” He puffed out, flipping over his cards and looking at them. His eyes suddenly widened and his lips contorted into a tremendous grin. The sisters gaped in horror and bawled into a fit of rage. The cards score in total was twenty-one which put Russel Ace into the victory circle to say the least. Now was his time to shine, to shout and cheer, while confused patrons and co-workers glimpsed over. As for the sisters, they simply sulked away in tears.
A young woman entered the casino as the sisters left, many immediately recognized her as Ruby, the owner of the 'Gambino Hat Rack.' She wore a light green dress, with puffy shoulders that bore red hearts, on the back end was a bright, purple bow. A matching green hat, with red flowers adorned her head, quite an odd hat, most likely one of a kind. She turned her neck to look around the casino, her long brown hair swiveling around. She proceeded to the token booth, buying twenty-five tokens and jingled them, trying to find a dealer, though she saw Russel Ace, she moved on, for the simple fact that he was still acting rambunctious.
She scanned around the casino, spotting the a peculiar young dealer with red headphones. “Excuse me.” She said in a soft voice, walking up to the dealer's table and tapping him on the shoulder. Dark turned around, for the past ten minutes he was oblivious to the events around, his mind was lost in the sea of music. He snapped from his stupor and replied. “Yes... Oh. You came to play?” He asked her, spotting Ace out of the corner of his eye. He put his full attention back to Ruby quickly.
He couldn't help but to gaze upon her.
Ruby gave a brief smile and sat at the table, making sure that she was comfy before saying anything else. Her light, soft blue eyes looking at her dealer for a short while, giving off a moderate blush, this wasn't the first or last that she'd blush because of a man. “Yes, I came to play... though, I'm not sure if I'll do well...” She answered him rather nervously, knowing he must've been waiting on an answer. Dark dealt out four cards, as standard routine, both of his were face down, while one of Ruby's was shown. “Oh my...” She muttered, unsure of action that should be taken.
Dark took notice of her confusion and on a rare occasion deciding to offer a 'helping' hand. “You know, if you'd like...” He stammered, trying to find his tongue. “I could teach you how to play..” Dark finally managed to say, nervousness evident in his manner.
A small blush appeared on Ruby's face, she hadn't expected this in the least, she thought for a moment and then smiled. “I'd be honored... Mr...?” She paused, for didn't know the young man's name. He took her hand and gave it a kiss, causing Ruby to blush more so. “Its, Dark. However, please... drop the 'Mr.' I'm not that old, yet.” She giggled at his response and gave a quick nod, looking at the clock, it was almost ten at night. “My my, I didn't realize how late it was when I left... and your shift might end soon...” She said, her voice sounding slightly disappointed.
Dark walked up beside her, indeed she was right, his shift was finally over. He overheard the slot machines in the distance, the ticket machines spurting out their winnings to the lucky people. “You know, if you'd we could continue our less elsewhere.” Dark proposed to her, not expecting the idea to fly at all. “Though I do-”
“I think thats a wonderful idea, Dark!” She interrupted him with an enthusiastic burst, she began to walk away. “Please, when you're finished here, please come to my shop.” She with a wave as she exited the casino. Dark watched intently as she left, wanting to quickly finish his last duties and meet her there. Ten minutes later, after just a sign out and inventory check, he finally left his place of work.
Time truly does fly by in this land, day and night seem to pass by and intertwine with each other almost effortlessly. He still had on his Gold Mountain equipment, so luckily the brisk air wasn't a problem, even though Ruby's shop was just across the Isle. People were headed to the late night clubs and restaurants, paying no need to him at all, every last one of them ready to live the night to its fullest. Soon, he arrived at the door of the 'Gambino Hat Rack', there was a sign on the door that said 'closed.'
Yet, of course the lights were on.
He knocked on the door, the sounds of quick footsteps rushing towards the door. The door opening, revealing the young Ruby's face to him. Her expression was that of joy and the door opened wide. “Please, Dark! Come in!” She said, back so he could gain access to her home. Dark noticed she changed attire, she wore a green night gown and nightcap.
“Yes, of course!” Dark replied, replied, stepping inside. “Where is young, Peyo.” Dark asked, as he followed Ruby upstairs into the actual area of her home. The walls were adorned with small painting prints, he glanced briefly before moving on. “Peyo is asleep, Dark. It was way past his bedtime.” She replied arriving at the top of the stairwell, awaiting on her special guest. “Ah, why didn't I guess that.” He said, he himself now at the top. She took hold of his hand and led him to one of the rooms.
“Now...” She paused, opening the door. “Sorry about the mess, I need to clean up a bit.” She said, walking in. “I'm sur-” Dark stopped what he was saying as he entered the room, realizing this was Ruby's bedroom. His cheeks went red, as he gazed about taking notice of Ruby's 'belongings' thrown about.
“Sorry” Ruby said, her cheeks red as well. “However.. what about my lesson?” She patted a spot on her bed. Dark shook himself from the 'thoughts' he had and sat down, though the blush didn't leave his face. “Well, lets begin...” He pulled out a pair of playing from his pants pocket and began to explain the rules of the game blackjack. Soon however, Dark had taught her all there was to truly know, but their chattering didn't cease. Both grew closer into each other words, and both continuously exchanging information and emotions.
Their talking continued for hours, well into the late night and early morning. Dark looked at the time and yawned, looking at Ruby. “Maybe we should get some rest, there always time to talk.” He yawned and stood up, but Ruby pulled him back down unto the bed.
She hopped on his waist and straddled his chest. She moved over to his ear, and whispered “I know theres always time for talking, but theres almost never time for pleasure. For the longest time... Its been such a long time since I've seen a man like you.” Ruby continued to straddle him making the young Dark quite excited and flustered.
He lifted a up a card, the card just happened to be the 'Ace of Hearts'.
“Perhaps, this is a sign...” Dark said, as Ruby wrapped her arms around his neck. They moved their heads closer, the blush in their cheeks growing redder by the second. Their lips locked in a passionate kiss, both feeling bliss and longing in the other. They ended the kiss several seconds later, but they stayed close. Ruby nuzzled her head into Dark's chest and closed her eyes. She slowly started to drift to sleep on his chest, feeling content with her position. “It has to be a sign. It simply has to be...” She whispered to him, feeling his hand brush through her hair.
Whether it was a sign or not, neither of them thought about it, they only thought of the present and the warmth they gave the other. Turning their small corner of the Isle into another paradise, this one, only for themselves.
