Hope you like it! (Note: Starring the "original" Coran. Whoohoo!)
Azaile sat with his back pressed up against the wall of leaves and twigs that made up their hiding place, looking everywhere but at Coran. The cat boy on the other hand glared right at Azaile, his blue and green eyes both narrowed at the Hawk. Lara sat a little ways off, which was rather difficult confined to the small place she was, and it was rather tempting to reach across the small gap and punch both men right in the jaw. Doing so might have caused said men to curse, therefor revealing their position to anyone who happened to be near, so Lara refrained. "You know this never would have happened if he just-" "Sh!" Lara now glared pointedly at Azaile and he cut off mid-accusation, the combined stares slightly unnerving him. "It's over here! Remember, Luke?" "No, I don't. Deanna, why do we have to do this again? What if dad finds out?" "Oh, don't be such a baby!" Two new voices, a boy and a girl were fast approaching. All three people hidden in the bush froze, all eyes shifting to watch the patch of leaves they came from. Lara looked over as Coran mouthed "Kids?". His ears were twitching rather nervously. "Move please." A very soft girl's voice said, causing the adults to jump. Slowly, the branches rustled and began to pull apart, revealing two kids not over the age of six. Both were staring at the adults with a mixture of curiosity and fear. Both had snow-white hair and rather unnerving golden eyes. The boy, obviously the older, jumped and held up a hand. Instantly, branches, leaves and thorns began to curl around Lara, Coran and Azaile. Roots sprang up from the ground in a shower of dirt to wrap around their feet and hands. "I knew this was a bad idea. Now look!" He said, now wringing his hands together. "We should go get mom." "Nah..." The girl gave a small smile, tilting her head to one side. "This could be fun." Her voice remained the same exact pitch throughout her entire sentence, giving it a rather emotionless quality. She held out a hand, palm up, and seemed to beckon to Azaile. The foliage restraining him began to shove him forward, closer to the strange pair of children. "Why are you here?" She asked with genuine curiosity. "And why are you different?" It took Azaile several moments to speak, and when he did it probably wasn't the smartest thing to say. "You're an Oathbreaker..." The girl drew back her fist and delivered the punch Lara had decided not to throw. For a girl her size, she had quite a bit of power and Azaile did curse as predicted. "No we're not. You're different. Tell me why." "You're different." Azaile protested, sounding rather childish. "We-" Again she pulled back, again she struck him, this time in the stomach. Azaile probably would have doubled over if he wasn't tied up. "Why don't you ask the guy with the ears? Or the girl?" The boy suggested, all previous traces of hesitance gone. "The boy looks too much like Midnight." (Lara though Coran couldn't help a smug little tail swish at those words.) "And we're not supposed to beat up on girls. It's bad." "...son of a..." Azail seemed to have regained his wind and was half-heartedly wheezing out a couple curses. The boy shot a glare at him and threw his own punch at Azaile. "Don't you dare talk to my sister like that."
And I got plenty more where that came from, Alex.
