“Hey, no fair!” Aideen said, giggling slightly. “All’s fair in love and war, my dear.” Lyam replied, splashing her again. Aideen and Lyam continued playfully splashing each other with the warm ocean water of Santa Rosa Island, laughing all the while. Eventually, Lyam tired and walked up onto the sand, out of the water. Aideen splashed him one more time before following after him. “I hope you know I’m going to get you back for that.” He said as she caught up to him. She just smiled and linked her fingers with his. “I know. But for now, I win.” She said, sticking her tongue out at him. He stopped and pulled her into a quick hug. “For now.” He whispered in her ear, then let go and sat down on the blanket they had set up on the beach. She sat down beside him and leaned her head against his shoulder. They sat there in intimate silence, watching the sun slowly creep behind the watery horizon. Even after the sun completed its descent, they remained there, enjoying the company. But soon, the cool breeze grew colder, and they began to pack up. Once their things were in the small truck, they jumped in and headed back to the little hotel in which they were staying. The whole drive back, their hands were inseparable, contentment filling them from such a simple touch. “I’m going to get in the shower, okay?” Aideen said as soon as they arrived. Lyam only nodded in response while he carried in the beach bag. She grabbed a few things from her suitcase and headed into the bathroom, kissing him lightly on the cheek as she passed. After turning the water on to hot, she set her stuff down and quickly undressed, making sure to lay the towel nearby. The relaxing water cascaded down over her when she stepped in, steam soon filling the entire room.
She sighed softly as she turned the water off and got out of the shower. Picking up the towel she set down earlier, she wrapped it around her body, tucking it in so it wouldn’t fall without her having to hold it. She walked up to the mirror and, studying it for a moment, began to write a little message in the fog. Content with her handiwork, Aideen turned around, only to let out a little gasp. Lyam stood before her, chuckling softly. “Meanie! Don’t sneak up on me.” She said, pouting slightly. He just smiled and wrapped his arms around her, kissing her neck lightly. “I’m sorry.” He said, releasing her and resting his hands on her shoulders. His eyes gazed deep into hers, which began to make her blush slightly. The corners of his mouth turned up in a small smile as he blushed along with her. “Umm… May I?” He asked, gesturing to the towel she wore. Her mouth opened a little in surprise, the red color in her cheeks darkening, but she nodded. His hands shook slightly as he took hold of the edge of the towel, slowly pulling it off and letting it fall to the floor in a heap. A minor shiver went through her body, but it passed unnoticed by both of them, as Lyam saw her unclothed for the first time. Aideen feebly attempted to cover up her stomach, her greatest insecurity, but he grasped her hands and held them against his chest. “Please don’t hide.” He said, kissing her hands. “Even now, you’re still the most beautiful being in the entire world, my love.” He muttered softly as he leaned in and kissed her lips.
