Every day, a child is born somewhere in the world. For when a child is born, someone dies in their place. It is the balance of life and death. Which keeps earth in perfect harmony. However, what if something changed? Something different, but something the same. What if when a child is born, another being is created just for them? A special being, one they are connected to by birth; and are connected to until their death. But what if these special beings, gave their child something extraordinary? Like new powers or a longer life span or even immortality. If that is so, the balance is tipped. Like death eventually becomes non existent and the world slips into chaos. That can't be allowed to happen. For life and death must always be balanced or else the world will fall. It must be prevented at all costs.
But every year, more and more children are born with these creatures tied to them. Tied to their very soul, in an unbreakable link. One that death can't even hope to destroy. However, death is needed. Death is needed to keep the world balanced. So something had to be done and fast, to bring death back to the world. As more and more beings; are gifting their bonded partner with the gift of immortality. Which is tipping the balance even more. They just suddenly appeared and can take two forms. One human and the other an animal.
But their origins are unknown and many have handed over the gift of immortality to their partner. However not all of them have. Just the ones who seek to destroy the balance of the world, wiping out the shinigami. To prevent death from ever happening again. But those who never gifted the gift of immortality to their soul link partner, have left to seek out the remaining shinigami. Trying to get them to aid them, in stripping the immortality from those gifted with such a dangerous gift.
However, due to everything and as the gift of immortality is constantly being given. Many have started to hunt down the shinigami to wipe them out for good. For if the shinigami got their hands on the ancient Book of Thorim, they would be able to use their powers and shatter the bond. Once a bond is shattered, the gift they were given would be destroyed. But the book has been lost to the ages and those shingami that remain, have all slipped into hiding. So a select group of partners are after these shinigami. To seek their help in finding the lost book. The book that can shatter the bond between partners.
Than if they are lucky, balance will be restored. Between life and death, with the shinigami as death's cold icy hands. For they harvest souls and move them to the other side. But to make sure that balance is returned, the book must be found. But it has been lost to time and time hasn't been very pleasant. However with the dwindling number of shinigami or death gods. Finding them is hard, for most have been wiped out. Only a few remain out in the open, while the rest remain in hiding. The small group must find them and than together will they find the ancient book. But there are those that want to destroy the shingami before they get the book. Only time will tell, in which side will win.
