The elderly couple sat in there living room, enjoying each other's company.
They knew there time was coming to an end.
"I want to be with you forever." Said the wife.
"You will be." Said her husband.
"No." She said. "Our time grows short. With each passing moment, we grow older. We get closer to death. We get closer to the end of our lives."
The man looked at his watch. He watched the second hand move, then the minute had tick. He took off his watch. Carefully, he removed the battery.
"There." He said. "My watch has stopped."
She shook her head. "Just because your watch stopped means nothing. What about the clock on the wall? It still ticks. Time still moves."
The man looked at the clock. He got up and removed it from the wall, and took out it battery.
He then went around the house and did this to all the clocks, and all the watches. When he was done, he returned to his wife's side.
"There." He said. "All the clocks have stopped. The hands no longer move. I have stopped time. Now we can be together forever."
