The Heart-Shaped Balloon.

He sat there in the gloomy corner of the alley way. He gazed into the black universe longing for someone to grab his skinny and pale arm. To grab it and run with him from all the dull sadness that surrounded him. He was stuck and confused. He missed the bright outside where the birds and the children played loudly, screaming in joy. He remembered the time when he was with his friend at the park.

They had bought a balloon. It was red and shaped like a heart. He held onto the string like a child grasps the hand of their mother. It has his balloon and nobody was going to take it from him. The day was windy though, and the breeze was picking up. He held onto the balloon string tighter and tighter, determined to keep it with him.

Suddenly there was a strong gust of wind that took the balloon. He held on tight and pulled at the string. As the wind blew more, he pulled harder. Harder and harder did they battle. The wind seemed relentless in energy, but he was determined.

It was a pity that the balloon blower didn't know how to tie string very well, as the string broke and the heart-shaped balloon was taken. It flew into the sky, bobbing up and down. It taunted him in the greying sky before it left forever.


The tears streamed down him face. He was so alone now and he slumped further into the corner. He cried. He just longed for someone to help...
