It's a memorial thing for a breast cancer patient who was a swimmer who died. She was from my village, so.
It wasn't always a memorial. It used to just be a marathon thing. But after she died they dedicated it to her, which is kind of sweet.
We swim from this waterside park/beach to the lighthouse, which is approximately four miles or so. Takes between two to four hours.
I'm not swimming after all, though. Every swimmer needs a kayaker to accompany them to carry fresh water, sunblock, first aid stuff, etc.- basically being pack mules- and my dad really wants to swim, and can't kayak, so. We were gonna swim together but I'm the only kayaker at hand P:
I need to actually go get a kayak though -___- we sold mine a few years ago, and I've been using the instructional ones for the classes I assist with over the summer. Sooo. Yeah. My dad seems willing to get me one ^__^ since it works out for him too lol
