"Person: What kind of music do you like?
Me: I have no idea.
Person: Oh, well... what bands do you like?
Me: Uh, I really like Panic at the Disco.
Person: OHMYGOD ME TOO! Have you seen them live? I have all their CDs. I know all the words and meanings of all of their songs. I am so in love with Panic at the Disco. I know the first and last names of all the band members. Do you?
Me: What? No.
Person: PSSSHHH. And you say you really like them?"
Me: I have no idea.

It's a conversation like that (and I HAVE had many conversations like that) that make me infuriated. It's like I don't really, truly appreciated a band unless I stalk them and collect used tissues or something. BS, man. Seriously, I know nothing about any band ever. I like bands. I like music. But I'd never go out of my way to find every song a band's ever made and I definitely wouldn't spend a ton of money to see them live and suffer claustrophobia from a huge crowd.
I understand that fans support the bands. They buy CDs and go to the concerts and such. I'm not saying that nobody should completely love bands to the point where they would memorize everything about them. I'm just saying that I will never ever be one of those people. I like bands. I'm just not in like with bands.
