~~~*Prolouge*~~~
Once upon a time, in a far away world very much like ours, there was a girl. She was no ordinary girl though, for she had amazing powers. She could turn into a half cat half girl once in a special amount of time. Her mother, Esgarina, called people from all over the land to figure out how they could stop her precious daughter Kidaru from turning into the half cat. Her mother was a regular human, and perhaps that made her jealous of Kidaru and her father, who was a half cat person as well. Her father disappeared. No one knew where he had gone, so maybe her mother didn't want to be reminded of him. One day, when the little daughter Kidaru was only 5, a man came and said he knew a cure for it. "Please try your best!" Esgarina exclaimed. The man nodded and quickly walked over to Kidaru to see her. He put a small grape into her mouth, and a necklace on her neck. "Eat that fruit Kidaru. It'll make you better," he said. Kidaru was an obedient little girl, so she listened. She swallowed the grape. "Now all you need to do is wait, but I assure you it worked," the man said to Esgarina. "Oh thank goodness!" she exclaimed. The man walked out. They thought they had fixed it, but they were wrong. That was only the beginning of many exciting and important things to happen, 10 years later is where it all begins.....
~~~*Chapter One*~~~

Kidaru, aged 15, ran to her kitchen, and saw her mom chopping up some mushrooms for breakfast. "Mom, where's my papers???"
"I haven't the faintest idea. You should keep better track of them!" Esgarina replied, while making the breakfast. 'Yeesh, touchy, mom,' Kidaru thought, but said aloud, "okay, I'm late already so I'll see ya later!" With that, she ran off, ignoring her mother's shouts of "GET BACK HERE AND EAT YOUR BREAKFAST!" Kidaru had grabbed her bag, and a bagel on her way out. She just waved to her mom and ran off into the forest.
Kidaru ran to the arena. "Oh my gosh, I'm here I'm here!" she exclaimed. The leader of the battles nodded at Kidaru. "You're just on time. I trust you brought your permission from your mother?" Kidaru rummaged through her bag. "I know it's here somewhere," she said. The leader looked at her solemnly. Her long black hair glistened in the sunlight, and her dark blue eyes looked into Kidaru's silver ones. "If you don't have the slip, then you won't be able to participate. You got that, right?" Kidaru nodded absently and pulled out a piece of paper. "I got it!" Kidaru exclaimed waving the paper in the air. The other students stopped chattering and looked at her. Kidaru sweatdropped. "Uh....?"
Kidaru's friend, Seiko, ran up to her. "Ohhh Kidaru! I'm so glad you made it!!! I'm so excited, are you??"
Kidaru nodded. "You bet I am!" She looked up to see leader's black as the night sky on a moonless night shirt and grey as a cloud skirt with a green forest belt, which also indicated her rank as teacher, and heard her cough once. "I'll take your slip, Kidaru." Leader said.
Kidaru nodded. "Here!" she smiled and gave the slip to Leader, and ran off with Seiko to the rest of the class to get ready for the day's lesson.
"Okay, this is the real deal. Some of you have been training since you were little. Other's are completely new to this," Leader paused and looked at the new people, Seiko, Zinan, and Pacchiri. "So," she resumed, "My name is Leader Kikina. You all can either call me Leader Kikina, Leader, or even, if I give you permission to, Kikina. I'm not really mean you know, it's just my job to make sure that the annual fighters are as best as they can be." Here, she winked and continued on. "So, who here thinks they can fight well?" Leader Kikina saw that several people raised their hands. "All right then," she said with a small tone of disappointment in her voice as she saw that Kidaru didn't raise her hand. "So, I'll take two volunteers, and they'll fight. Everyone will watch, and learn from eachother, it'll help. So, who feels confident enough to fight infront of everyone?" She saw that several people, Zinan, Pacchiri, and a few others she didn't know raised their hands. "Good. Now, everyone who didn't raise your hands, please step forward."
'What is Kikina thinking?' Kidaru thought as she stepped forward and saw Seiko, Miaka, Kikuru, and a few others she didn't know step forward as well.
'Kidaru and Miaka are the ones that didn't raise their hands who also had years of training in this, and Kikuru and Seiko are the two new ones, meaning they might embarass themselves in front of everyone....' Kikina thought. 'Hmm... interesting...' then she said aloud, "Kidaru! Miaka! You two have had years of training, and you know that I always ask who's ready to fight. I'm glad you two remembered the most basic rule, that you're never ready to fight! Care to demonstrate the basic fight since you two know more than the others?"
Kidaru and Miaka shared equal looks of 'yeah yeah let's go' and both said, "Alright."
Kikina smiled. They may be 15, but they're exactly the same as they were when she first met them, 10 years ago. 'Well, not exactly. Kidaru had ears tail and whiskers back then, but other than that...' she shook her head and said "Get infront of everyone and demonstrate a simple 3 minute fight!"
Kidaru and Miaka nodded. Kidaru got into a position with one of her hands in front, and one lower and further back. She leaned backwards on one foot, but balanced her weight on both feet. Miaka did a similar pose, except that one of her hands were above her head, and the other infront, ready to block any attack made to her upper body. She had one leg slightly infront of the other, and narrowed her eyes at Kidaru.
"Alright, demonstrate how to attack, and counter. Got it?" Kikina asked.
Kidaru and Miaka nodded once and looked back at eachother.
"Ready. GO!" Came the signal from Kikina.
Kidaru ran towards Miaka and Miaka prepared to defend. Miaka raised her arm to protect her chest. Kidaru kicked at the behind of her legs and tripped her.
"OOF!" Miaka said as she landed flat on her back.
Kidaru smiled and backed away. 'Same Miaka,' she thought as she backed away. 'Nothing's changed much since when we first started... except I feel like I had something furry on my head, and long wiry things on my cheeks, but my mother said that was just a dream... oh well back to the fight.' Kidaru blinked and gasped as Miaka grabbed her by the legs and put her hands on Kidaru's shoulders, flipping her over her head, and Miaka got up quickly to see Kidaru fall. Miaka knew that she'd do next, but it always surprised her.
"OOH!" The class exclaimed and watched.
"heh.." Kidaru laughed, and turned the surprise attack to her advantage by putting her hand on the ground, and doing a backflip-looking thing. She landed with as much grace as she would have if she was a ballet dancer. She smirked slightly.
Miaka shook her head and smirked. "Same idea as when you were five, Kidaru."
"Hmm? What's wrong with that? It still works doesn't it?" Kidaru asked, panting slightly, yet still having that smirk on her face.
"Of course it works, but it's getting old there you know." Miaka replied, also panting and smirking.
Kikina had been watching silently, but now she called out "Time up! Miaka, Kidaru, back with the other students!"
Kidaru looked at Kikina, and the slight sparkle in Kidaru's eyes faded to her normal shade, and her smile turned back to her original smile. Miaka, too, lost her smirk and went back with everyone else.
Kikina looked at the students yet again. "Alright, Kidaru and Miaka have been training since they were 5. Those things they did, simple looking, right? You're probably thinking that you can do it right?" She watched as several hands raised in the air. "Some of you also probably think that you could NEVER do it in a million years, right?" She watched as several more hands raised. "Well, those of you that think you could flip someone, or land after being flipped, you have a LOT to learn! It's not that easy. Kidaru, tell us how long it took you to learn that."
Kidaru moaned and stepped forward. 'Always, she does this, ALWAYS!' but out loud, she said "It took me until I was seven."
Kikina nodded at Kidaru. "Thank you Kidaru, that's all. Okay, those of you that think you can do that, It took one of this country's best fighters 2 years to learn. Still think you can? Raise your hands high if you think you can learn it faster." One hand went up. It was Seiko's. Kidaru groaned, knowing that Seiko would fall, and she'd get hurt. Kikina looked shocked. "Okay, one brave person still stands by what she said originally. I commend you, Seiko." Seiko gasped because she was unaware that Kikina knew her name. "Now then," Kikina said, "Those of you that said you could NEVER do it, you will possibly learn it faster than the ones that thought they could. Why? Because you knew it would be hard, and you prepared yourself for it. Seiko, however, may learn fastest of all, because she's determined. Look at her eyes, you can see it." Seiko blushed, not used to 10 pairs of eyes looking straight at hers. Kikina continued. "Okay, today, Kidaru will show you how to land after being thrown, and Miaka will show you how to throw. They will work together. Please don't make them move any faster than they do, as it's hard for anyone, even the country's best fighters to attack repeatedly. Okay, begin... now!" Kidaru and Miaka groaned, and shared a look at eachother saying, 'again??' and smiled.
Kidaru's eyes widened and she gasped. "ACK!"

~~~*Chapter Two*~~~
Kidaru sat on the floor, gasping for air. "Oh my gosh, ten times showing was fine, even up to 100 times, but 350 is just insane!"
Miaka sat down and sighed. "Yeah, what's worse though, was that we got NO break from 32:00 till 36:30!" She then collapsed on the ground. "I'm too tired to eat lunch...."
Kidaru rolled her eyes. "Oh yeah, right. You're always hungry and you know it Miaka." Miaka sweatdropped and smiled. Kidaru continued, "well I am hungry, so I'm going to eat." She then grabbed her bag and pulled out a sandwich of mushrooms and kelp. "Mushrooms and kelp again, Kidaru?!??" Miaka gasped. "I want some!!" Kidaru laughed and nodded. "That's why I brought two!" she said, holding up a second sandwich. Miaka giggled "Awesome," and grabbed a sandwich. Seiko watched. "Don't you two ever eat your own lunches?" Miaka and Kidaru sweatdropped and shook their heads. "Nope, never!" Kidaru said. "Yeah, we always share everything!" Miaka added and smiled. Kidaru stood up suddenly. "We'd better stretch Miaka." she said, and then started stretching. "We don't want to tense up." Miaka nodded and started stretching.
'Wow, they just fought for four hours straight, and they don't even look tired. They're smart for stretching though. I wish I had done that,' Seiko thought and winced as she remembered what happened when she tried to land right earlier today. She had landed on her bottom, and it had hurt. Now it hurt to sit down. 'Oh well, one more thing I've learn now I guess.' she thought and went back to eating her lunch of fried chikirus and bread.
Kikina looked at all the students that were eating.
