This is for my school paper... we do something called a viewpoint and this is mine...

"At second lunch a girl and her friend came up to my friends and me to ask for money. We said no. Being truthful and without an attitude I added that if I did, I probably might not have given it to her because I did not know her. She glared with hostility, said I was mean and called me a vulgar name for no reason. Minutes later, a grape that had rolled away from my lunch hit me in the back. Hm, I wonder. Near the end of lunch, a freshman friend was hunted down by two guys; they interrogated him several times about a certain person. When they left, they said something similar to, “Well, just to let you know, if you ever mess with him again, we’ll bash your face in.” He was just sitting there minding his own business when he was faced with a completely random confrontation. I assume most of the fights at lunch start like this, when one student gets into another’s face. With both scenarios, they could have evolved into a free for all fight. More teenagers these days are getting less friendly and more hotheaded. With chivalry out and gangster in, Mr. Sweet-and-sensitive has just lost his date to Mr. You-wanna-go?! Is that where “nice guys finish last,” the saying, comes from? It seems that more teenagers are developing pretty snippy attitudes where it is all about “rep” and pride. But then again, what were we to expect? There are booming stereos of a rapper belting out crude lyrics, TV shows and movies with language, murder, or suggestive scenes. So where does that leave us? Is “Let’s go! I can take you!” how everything is solved now? I think to myself, “I guess so” as I examine the grape stain on my shirt."
