Alicia was happy to be able to get out of the palace. Not for the fact that there was nothing to do, for there was plenty, but it was nice to get out every once in a while. Smiling, Alicia made her way down the crowed market place. Venders shouted, promoting what they sold while shoppers smiled and chatted animatedly together. Some people recognized her as Princess Alicia and stopped her to talk. She would chat for a few minutes before politely excusing herself. Occasionally she paused and glance around a stall if something caught her eye. She had already purchase gifts for all her siblings, friends, and a couple small items for herself. After spending most the day wondering around the island. It was mid-evening when she decided to buy a cool drink. As she stood waiting patiently for her drink, she looked down the street to see where she would go next. Two stalls away from where she stood, there was a tall dark tent. It looked at odds with all the little wooden shacks and stalls that stood against the street sides. She could see a sign that stated it was a magic shop so after she got her drink, she decided to enter it. Set up against the fabric walls, there were wood shelves and the center of the tent held cloth covered tables. Alicia could feel the magic gentle radiating from the object that rested upon the selves and tables. The tent smelt of burned incense and the lighting was dim. The sun didn’t seem to penetrate the fabric so, it lit by pale candles placed all over the tent. As Alicia wondered around, she came to the woman who owned the peaceful shop. Her brown eyes were wide and wise. On the bridge of her nose, a black sun tattoo rested beautifully. From it black tribal tattoos danced across her check bones. One branch reached up to her temple while the other came to rest under her ear. Her hair was artfully up held by three silver rods. Dangling from these, thin silver chains glittered. Her slender body was draped with a fine silver shawl which Alicia could still see the dress through. Alicia made a mental note to research where the woman was from and her customs. ‟Alicia, pleasant to see you here in the Abarat Labyrinth again.” The woman’s voice was mystical and quiet. Alicia could feel the magic in the woman vibrating against her mind. Alicia answered politely that she was happy to be there. The two continued to visit quietly while Alicia wondered the tent. They talked as if they had known the other of a lifetime but hadn’t see each other for years. ‟You know that you stand upon a path with a web of choices. There are many futures that await you to find them. You know that you need to be very wise of your choices for every one will effect your family and in some cases, the world.” Alicia could feel the fact the woman was using a Sight power to look into Alicia’s fates. Alicia listened carefully and held back the many questions that had swarmed into her head. ‟Some are much more hoped for than others. You yourself are fighting one large choice but it is still open. The path is near your side for a very long time, maybe forever. There seems to be a time the path is extra welcoming to you and you are likely to take it. Many things are going to work to pull you away from this decision and you may be able to come back.” Heart pounding, Alicia fought acidic tears. She was sure she knew what the woman spoke of and she hated it passionately. ‟You will also face a large betrayal from a place you do not expect. It is near you heart. Be careful to think and reason before you act. Trust all those you love most, they will be with you forever. Be aware of the dark ice, it waits, becoming inpatient. You mustn’t always slave to those around you. They can hold up themselves. Know your past but look strongly to your future. Be prepared for a war beside those you love. Be careful with your choices.” The woman ended, her eyes becoming clear again. Alicia swallowed hard as she nodded her goodbye. As she walked out, the woman spoke clearly, ‟you will return, I await the visit.” Alicia glanced back at the smiling woman before continuing out. Alicia decided to go home soon after the meeting. She wanted to sit peacefully in her garden as she contemplated her new knowledge. When she reached her bed she dropped her purchases in her room before going to her icy safety. She didn’t talk with any of her family or the Cheshire. Her garden was where she stayed, undisturbed, for the rest of evening and most the silent night. Her sleep was haunted with many paths that circled and tangled leaving her lost and crying. The last of her dreams before deciding to stay awake was a knife being thrust into her back that a pale white hand removed before cloaking her with his darkness.
