“ Where in the world is Ichigo now!?”
Keigo was pacing back and forth in the classroom, waiting for Ichigo to arrive. Usually Ichigo was there by now, but today and like all the days before, he had never came too nearly close to when first period started. He paused and looked up to the window, not seeing anyone, then going back to his pacing and ranting. Mizzuro sat on top of his desk and just watched him in pity while Chad stood there quietly. Mizzuro shook his head and sighed heavily. He too wanted to know where Ichigo had been, but he wasn’t making a big fuss about it like Keigo.
Else where there a soft knock at Ichigo’s door. The door opened and Yuzu stood there smiling happily as she looked at Maya, who today, looked absolutely beautiful. She turned and called to her brother, who stuck his head from around the corner of the kitchen with a piece of toast hanging from the side of his mouth. Maya laughed as Ichigo blushed softly and grinned, as he did that he dropped his toast out of his mouth and it fell on the floor. He frowned, knowing he didn’t have enough time to make another one, he grabbed his bag and slipped on his shoes and was heading out the door with Maya.
As the walked down to the corner there was a man pushing his crepe cart. Ichigo walked passed him to get to the crosswalk, but Maya had stopped at the cart. Ichigo looked back, not seeing Maya as the crosswalk signal gave the ok to walk across. He called her name and she came running after paying the crepe man. She smiled, holding the crepe to Ichigo, who refused it while looking away from her blushing, Maya pouted and looked down sadly at the crepe. When Ichigo saw this, he sighed and blushed, taking the crepe in his hand and biting into it. He looked back at Maya, who was smiling now and laughing at him as he ate. He blushed as he heard a small grumble making Maya silent as she blushed madly. He laughed at her and held the crepe towards her mouth. She smiled and bit into it happily. As soon as they finished it, Maya gently slipped her hand into Ichigo’s, both smiled as they walked towards school.
Maya looked up at the large clock and gasped. Ichigo asked her what was wrong and she pointed to the clock. They were going to be late if they didn’t hurry. Ichigo smiled and crouched down in front of Maya and told her that it would be faster if she got on his back. She smiled and happily jumped on his back. Ichigo took off then towards school, both of them smiling and laughing.
“ Where the heck is Ichigo!?”
Mizzuro got up and went to the window. He sighed, becoming irritated by Keigo now with his worrying and his complaining. He looked out the window and blinked for a moment, not believing what he was seeing. Was that Ichigo and Maya…together? He took a moment and it all began to make sense to him. He smiled…then began to laugh. Would the guys get a kick out of this or what?! Ichigo really found someone that he liked.
Ichigo and Maya sneaked into the school. They made it pass the teachers that waited at the gates for the late students. The two were laughing madly as they approached Ichigo’s first class. Maya looked to Ichigo and smiled some, turning around to face him. Her class was a few more doors down so she didn’t have to go too far from him. She smiled again and blushed softly.
“ Thank you”
“ For what?”
Maya just smiled and shook her head some. Ichigo looked rather confused. What was she thanking him for?
“ Really Maya…for what?”
“ Just…just for helping make sense of myself…I guess I just needed someone to walk with me at this point of my life.”
Ichigo understood what she meant. She had seemed to have fell so far down that it was almost like it was impossible for her to get back up again. He smiled some as he nodded a little’ rubbing the back of his head and smirked proudly. Maya saw his expression and just smiled all the same.
“ And that’s what makes you an awesome boyfriend…”
Ichigo paused. His smirk slowly went away and a huge red hue covered his face. He struggled to respond to her commit, but found it more than difficult to speak to her. Maya smiled, she too was blushing madly. She looked away from him shyly as she pulled a piece of her hair behind her ear.
“ I guess…I’ll go to class now”
Maya leaned up and kissed Ichigo gently on the cheek and turned to leave. She waved good-bye to him as she walked down the hall. Ichigo just stared at her and waved his hand slowly back and forth as she went into her class. He was still a little shocked (and surprised) that Maya had actually called him her “ Boyfriend”. This was all new to him…seeing as that Maya was his first, and by the look of it now since he was so in love with her, his only girlfriend. Ichigo leaned up against the wall next to the doorframe. He sighed heavily, but it was a happy sigh. He didn’t know why…but when Maya called him her boyfriend he felt a warm sensation inside…as if that meant that he was allowed to be with her officially. As if she was saying to him “ I want to be with you…and I want you to be with me…” Ichigo still stood against the wall, completely in a daze.
“ You know Ichigo. If you stand there any longer you’re going to be late for class…”
Ichigo jumped to the sound of Mizzuro’s. He turned to look at his classmate’s sly grin. Ichigo looked at him confused, and then it hit him as he shoved his hands into his pockets.
“ What did you hear?”
“ Everything”
Ichigo could kick himself in the butt, but he decided against it as he stood next to Mizzuro. He was about to walk past him when Mizzuro put his hand on top of his shoulder. Ichigo looked back and saw that Mizzuro was grinning widely. Ichigo raised a brow to him suspiciously.
“ What?”
“ You’re happy aren’t you?”
“ W-What’s that suppose to mean?”
“ It means…you’ve been slapped in the face with love!”
“ Shut up Mizzuro”
Ichigo couldn’t help but smirked some to the truth. He knew it and so did Mizzuro. Ichigo was in love, but he’d never say it out loud, at least not at the moment.
The day dragged on slowly. P.E was next on Ichigo’s list of classes. He stood there putting up some equipment with Chad while Keigo and Mizzuro gawked at the girls as they played baseball. Ichigo looked up for a moment seeing that Orihime was up to bat and Takski was pitching the ball. He saw Orihime hit the ball and run to base. He was kind of in a daze at the moment and wasn’t really paying attention. Chad looked over at him and cocked his head to the side.
“ Ichigo?”
“ Huh?”
“ Are you alright?”
Ichigo nodded some at Chad as he went back to helping him put away the rest of the equipment. Keigo was just drooling at Orihime as she ran. He thought that she was super cute when she ran. He hair bounced on her shoulders…and that wasn’t the only thing that bounced. Takski caught the ball and turned back to home.
“ Maya you’re up to bat!”
Keigo blinked for a moment when he heard Maya’s name. He looked at Mizzuro oddly. Mizzuro looked at him as well.
“ Since when did she have P.E this period?”
“ I don’t know...weird”
Keigo shrugged his shoulders and looked up as Maya walked out onto home holding her bat over her shoulder. Keigo’s mouth dropped and a huge amount of drool ran down the corner of his mouth.
“ Dude! Do you see that?!”
Mizzuro looked up once again and he did see it. His eyes widened a bit and his mouth dropped a little. There was Maya standing on the home base with her bat, but something about her was different. She had a sex appeal to her when she was wearing her P.E uniform. All the girls wore the same uniform, but on Maya it looked better than good…it looked great!
“ Hey guys come see this!”
Chad and Ichigo looked up and walked over to the others. Chad looked up, but he wasn’t too excited about seeing Maya. Though he had to admit…she did look attractive.
“ Is that Maya?”
“ Uh Huh! Does she look hot or what?!”
“ What do you think Ichigo?”
Ichigo couldn’t speak, how could he? He was too busy admiring his girlfriend up at bat. She had her hair back in a ponytail and her sleeves rolled up at both sides. Her shorts showed off how nice and long her legs were. She was smiling while she was up at bat. She held the bat tightly and practiced swinging. Ichigo wasn’t even paying attention to the fact that the others were checking out his girlfriend. Takski smirked once Maya was ready and threw a fastball. Maya swung and the ball went flying. Orihime took off to the next base while another girl was running to get Maya out. Maya smirked and slid into first base. Keigo and Mizzuro couldn’t help but cheer when she was safe. Chad didn’t say anything and Ichigo still couldn’t believe how hot Maya looked in her uniform. Maya stood up and dusted herself off a little as one of the other girls on her team walked up to her. She leaned over and whispered to her softly into her ear.
“ Don’t look now…but it looks like you have an audience…”
Maya blinked and looked over her shoulder to see Keigo, Mizzuro, Chad and Ichigo watching them from the other side of the field. At this point Keigo was going on and on about how hot Maya looked and Mizzuro was just agreeing. Chad had went back to finish putting some stuff away and Ichigo was just standing there, still amazed and in a daze. Maya couldn’t help but blush a little when her and Ichigo locked eyes on one another. Ichigo blinked and then looked away, turning around to go back to work.
Orihime noticed that Maya began smiling as Ichigo went back to work. She also noticed that she was still blushing. Orihime couldn’t help but feel a little sad right then…but she didn’t know why she was sad. It was all very strange. She shook her head to focus as the game went back into play.
A little while after third period it was lunch. Everyone was walking into the halls talking to each other as they went to go eat lunch. Ichigo was walking with Keigo, Mizzuro, Chad and Uyru. As they walked and talked as they headed towards their eating area, Mizzuro turned his head to see Maya staring out the window. He stared at her for a moment then paused, he turned to the guys.
“ Hey guys! I’ll catch up with you in a minute”
They nodded and went back to heading to there eating area. Mizzuro waited till they had hit the door to the roof before he made his way to Maya. Maya was just staring out the window into the blue sky. She sighed some, thinking about how nice today was.
“ You know…it’s a nice day to eat outside.”
Maya blinked, startled by Mizzuro’s voice. She looked and smiled at him, even though she didn’t even really know who he was. She nodded and looked back out the window.
“ It really is isn’t it?”
“ Why don’t you come outside with us to eat?”
Maya didn’t really know whom “Us” consisted on, but he was being rather nice to offer to eat lunch with her. Maya smiled and nodded, bowing her head to Mizzuro. He blinked and blushed a little, no one had ever really bowed to him before.
“ Thank you. I’d be happy to…”
“ Mizzuro”
Maya looked up and blushed, pulling a piece of hair behind her ear. She was slightly embarrassed that she had to ask his name. Mizzuro grinned as he extended a hand to her to shake on their new meeting.
“ Hey where’s Mizzuro?”
Keigo bit into his sandwich and munched on it loudly. Chad said nothing as well as Uyru. Ichigo just shrugged his shoulders some as he bit into a sausage that looked like a squid. Keigo looked over at him enviously as he ate his lunch.
“ Why do you always have the good lunches?”
“ Why do you always have the crappy ones?”
Keigo sighed and tried to explain it when the door opened. They all looked up to find Mizzuro with a smile on his face. That was odd. They looked at him weirdly as he stepped through the door first.
“ What’s with the grin?”
“ Who me? Nothing”
As Mizzuro walked and sat down towards Keigo, another person walked through the door unnoticed at first. Keigo started talking with Mizzuro for a moment. Ichigo went back to eating his lunch as well as Uyru. Chad looked up for a moment and somewhat made a grunt sound to whom ever came through the door.
“ Hello”
“ Oh. Hello”
Ichigo paused when he heard that voice. He looked up to find Maya standing there for a moment. He got up and walked towards her, now they had noticed that she was there.
“ Maya…what are you doing up here?”
“ Oh Mizzuro invited me to eat with you guys…um I hope that’s alright?”
“ Um…yeah of course it is”
Maya smiled some, blushing softly as she sat down. Ichigo quickly sat down beside her then. Mizzuro smiled at the two of them and then turned his attention to Maya.
“ So Maya…How do you like this school so far?”
“ It’s great. Everyone here is nice…I feel like I’m not so much as an outcast while I’m here”
“ That’s good. We’re glad that you’re here”
Maya blushed some and looked down. She smiled a small and shy smile when Mizzuro paid her the complement. Ichigo looked over at Maya and couldn’t help but wonder what the heck was going on. He didn’t think too much of it though. Mizzuro was just a friendly person. Keigo looked up at Maya some.
“ So how long have you and Ichigo been going out?”
Ichigo’s face fell when Keigo asked his question. Mizzuro turned to him with a “ Why the heck would you ask her that of all things” look, and Maya just sat there with a some what confused look on her face when he said what he wanted to say. Ichigo was ready to beat the crap out of Keigo. He looked over at Maya and saw the extremely red hue spreading across her face. Keigo was going to die at that moment, when Maya looked back up at Keigo, pulling a piece of her hair behind her ear with a shy smile.
“ Well…I guess you can say a week or so…”
“ Really? Only a week? How did this happen?”
Keigo was now asking the wrong questions. Poor Maya was put on the spot at that moment, and couldn’t get herself out. Ichigo was seriously pissed off with Keigo at this moment. He kept his eye on Maya, but noticed that her smile grew some.
“ We were just walking home together one evening and I started feeling really bad. Ichigo just asked me what was wrong and I told him. I kind of started to cry then and Ichigo was just there for me…and just after that…I just knew that I wanted to be with him.”
It was silent for a moment. Keigo blinked and nodded, going back to eating his food some. Mizzuro looked down at his own lunch and went back to eating. Chad and Uyru did the same. Maya sat there for a moment in silence, before opening her own lunch and began eating. Ichigo sat there, not able to say anything. He wanted to yell at Keigo for asking such personal questions, but Maya seemed to answer them truthfully. He couldn’t help but look over at her while she ate. He knew she meant every word that she said to them.
Lunch was over then and they all were heading back to their classes. Ichigo had his next class with Maya and it was their last one. They both were walking in silence down the hall towards their class when Ichigo stopped short behind her. Maya turned around after she noticed that he had stopped.
“ What’s wrong Ichigo?”
“ You didn’t have to answer any of Keigo’s questions if you didn’t want to…you know.”
“ Yeah I know…”
“ So why did you?”
“ Well I wasn’t going to lie to them…he asked a simple question and I gave him a simple and truthful answer…”
Ichigo paused for a minute. Maya sighed softly and walked up to Ichigo as he stood there thinking for a moment. She smiled as she looked up at him with her softly caring eyes.
“ Ichigo…what’s really the matter?”
“ Maya…it’s just…what you said to them. Was I really there for you? I mean when you were crying and all that, blaming yourself for your mother’s death…was I really the one you wanted to be with at that moment?”
Maya blushed and looked up at him. She smiled at him and nodded slowly as gently grabbed his hands in her. She gently pulled then up and placed them over her heart. Ichigo blushed, thinking he was way to close to her chest. She smiled some and closed her eyes.
“ Ichigo. Can you feel my heart beating right now?”
“ Yeah”
“ Can you feel how quickly it’s beating?”
“ Yeah…”
“ This is how it was beating when you were holding me that night. This is how it was beating when I first sat beside when I arrived here. It’s beating for you even now…”
Ichigo didn’t know what to say to Maya then. He was so lost for words. There was only one thing he could think of doing and that was to do what he wanted to do the first time he held her. Ichigo leaned over and kissed her gently on the lips. He could feel her heart beating even faster as well as his own. He couldn’t help but want to feel the warmth of his lips on her own. They pulled away after a moment and looked at one another. Both of them red in the face, but they didn’t care if they saw one another. Ichigo smiled as well as Maya as they continued to walk on to class. As soon as they had entered into their classroom, Orihime stepped from behind the corner where she was. She was on her way to the bathroom and just happen to catch Maya and Ichigo sharing a loving moment together. She didn’t know why, but her heart was racing tremendously. She placed her hand over it, and couldn’t help but feel sadness all of the sudden.
“ He…He’s in love with her. I can feel it. They love each other. So why do I feel…why do I feel sad now? Why do I feel….lonely?.”
She uttered softly, sighing as she went back to what she was doing.
