Unforgiving Sea

The feeling is mutual; no treaty required.
But we never say it
Davy Jones has our word.
Afraid and alone, we sail forward
Without a course nor a compass.
No knowledge of where to tread,
Not knowing how to say it:
I love you

Though your roots are bound
In a different paddock
Your love strikes hard at my strong cellar door.
No shackles can contain this infinity.

But when you're gone,
In the cool evening glow,
I fill the void you leave
With golden apples.
Their solace holds virtues, all so dangerous but so sweet:

Their crisp raises the blue flag of truth,
For cynicism is my harbour.
The broken leaf creates understanding,
Because empathy is moored by ropes.
Deep and glowing colour vouches for compassion;
No animal on Earth can take a pirate's scurvy

But this shame and this guilt,
I am so weak.
Each bite I take from an apple
Rips away a slice of your heart.

I've taken the wrong map,
There is only one way to get back home.
Back to the safety of fear,
Living alone in the depths of oblivion.

Here comes the plank to push you away
Here comes the captain to evict your stay
Please don't hurt,
You are much stronger than that.
It is better for me to go now,
Than to stab you in the back.
